Humor often helps

A Republican walked into a bar and asked the bartender, “Isn’t that Jesus over there?” When the bartender said “Yes,” the Republican sent over a drink. “Put it on my tab,” he said.

A little later a Libertarian walked in. “Say,” he said, “Isn’t that Jesus sitting over there?” The barman said, “Yes,” so the Libertarian sent over a hamburger.

Presently a Democrat showed up, noticed Jesus and sent over a plate of french fries.

Jesus soon left. On his way out he stopped to talk to the Republican. “Thanks for the drink,” he said; “It was really good. Is there anything I can do for you?” “Well,” said the Republican, “I’m facing knee surgery…” “Don’t say another word,” said Jesus as he laid a hand on the man’s knee. “You are healed.”

Jesus came to the Libertarian and said, “Thanks for the hamburger. It was really good. Is there anything I can do for you?” “Well,” said the Libertarian, “I have cataracts…” Jesus placed his fingers on the man’s eyes and said, “You are healed.”

Finally, Jesus came to the Democrat. He thanked him for the fries and offered him any help he needed. “Don’t touch me!” shouted the Democrat, “I’m on Disability!!”

UFOs and Alien Life

In the weird last minutes of the debate (the period, by the way, when The Fix made it onto the basketball court in high school) Rep. Dennis Kucinich (Ohio) gave us a highlight.

Asked about the statement by actress Shirley MacLaine that Kucinich had seen a UFO at her house, Kucinich said that he had. He quickly sought to clarify — an “unidentified flying object” he said holding up his hand — but man oh man.

The big news tonight: DENNIS KUCINICH HAS SEEN A UFO.

Obama did not take the bait when asked whether he thought there is life on other planets. “I believe there is life here on Earth,” he said, turning his answer into a domestic policy statement.

Since we are getting closer – well not that close – to the elections thought I would give you someone to think about.

The popular comedian and talk show host Stephen Colbert decided to recreate his own “Man of the Year” movie – remember when Tom Dobbs (Robin Williams) comedic host of a political talk show runs for President of the US? In the movie the comedian wins the elections, so I wonder if this could happen in the real life. Although his initial announcement on the show stated that he will be running in South Carolina, his native state, only , you can never know how far it will go. One thing for sure – I’m curious to see. As Jeff Greenfield CBS political analyst said, “This is going to be one for the books” (AP).

Getting to the top

Politics, Quotes No Comments »

This is good……….

On a lighter note, I leave you with a parable. A pheasant was standing in a field chatting to a bull. ” I would love to be able to get to the top of yonder tree so all the countryside could see my glorious feathers,” sighed the pheasant, “but I haven’t got the energy.” “Well, why don’t you nibble on some of my droppings replied the bull. They’re packed with nutrients.” The pheasant pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch, and so on. Finally, after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Whereupon he was spotted by a farmer who dashed into the farmhouse, emerged with a shotgun, and shot the pheasant right out of the tree. The Moral of the Story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won’t keep you there.

Words of Wisdom from Rush

I was reading Rush today and he made an interesting point that I just want to share with all my democrat friends and family. Back in 2002 the Dow Jones was at 7200 – 5 years later under the leadership of George Walker Bush we have almost double that number. Amazing – and no one is talking about it.

AP: Dow Jones hits 14000 for first time

RUSH: I think this needs to be noted for historical purposes. On October 7th of 2002, the Dow Jones Industrial Average, having been battered by the Clinton-Gore dot-com crash and the aftermath of 9/11 damage and fear and pessimism, October 7th on 2002, the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit 7,181. That’s less than 7200, for those of you in Rio Linda. Today, less than five years from October 7th of 2002, the Dow all but doubled. It did cross 14,000 today. It got back just under 14,000, but it crossed 14,000 today, a humongously huge story that is not being reported at all because it doesn’t fit the action line or the template of the Drive-By Media, that the economy is bad. There are four points worth noting about this. One, the Bush economic plan. Do you ever hear those words, by the way? You don’t. The Bush economic plan worked, and it worked brilliantly.
